When the plan gets derailed.
When what we thought would work, doesn’t.
When a vital piece of equipment breaks.
When you forget what you’re supposed to say next.
When your routine is interrupted, your understanding of the world is altered, and you have to change your plan to keep yourself and others safe, you improvise.
The first rule of improv is Yes, And.
Accepting the circumstances as they are given to you, and building on them.
Not saying, “Actually, it’s not supposed to be this way” but instead totally embracing, “Yes, this is how it is, AND I see so much possibility!” Or at least enough possibility to say, “And.”
Last Friday, we explored what it means to say Yes And in this crazy time on a Facebook Live. Join us again this Friday, noon Eastern time! And register here for this week’s Virtual Meetings That Work interactive workshop!
