Stating your allegiance.

There are a million ways we can blazon our allegiance to a team, a cause, a candidate, a brand.  When we choose to wear/stick/wave one of these, we’re saying: “You can understand something about me from this sign/logo/mascot.”

 

It’s possible that we’re also saying: “I’m this, not that.”

 

Are we trying to attract some people, or repel others? Is this message clear? Do we know what it really means to someone else?

 

It’s worth thinking carefully about how and when you reduce your identity to a single dimension.
